ALL THINGS DANCE IN THE LATIN SCENE & BEYOND!
Who am I?
Hello, my name is Kenny Salsa. I’m a Brooklyn based Filmmaker who loves to dance, and discover new adventures in social scene. Now you probably think my last name is “Salsa”, haha! it is not. My real name is Kenny B. Hollon, but the dance community kept calling me Kenny Salsa, so I decided to just roll with it.
With my love for this world, and my passion for filmmaking, I decided to write a script about my life in the salsa scene, about how an introvert turned extrovert got into the scene. I titled that script “Kenny Salsa”, and it was a comedy/drama based on true events. So, one night, as a test, I bought my camera to a salsa social at Industry City, and just started recording people dancing, and soon every social I went to I would just bring my camera. Over the course of a year, I’ve created several salsa music videos, showcasing NYC top indoor & outdoor socials, such as Washington Square Park, Lincoln Center, Pier 76, and interviewed many influential people in the dance scene.
After a while, I realized that I was documenting the dance scene, and the people in them. It was no longer about my personal story, but others in the scene as well. So, I created a YouTube Docu-Series called “Kenny Salsa - The Rhythm of Life & Dance”, which brings light to the dance scene in NYC, and the people in them, as well as my life.
The videos that you watch, I am the Creator, Writer, Camera/Drone Operator, Producer, VFX Artist, and Editor. In essence, I’m an artist that loves to create, and the dance scene is a sandbox of limitless creativity. So, I invite you to look through my eyes, and see what I see.
As always, stay safe, have fun, and I’ll see ya on the dance floor!
Love,
Kenny Salsa
